recording at grandma's house

we spent the weekend recording at steve's grandma's house. steve kille, bass ripper in a little band called dead meadow, lent us his time and company to conduct. so as not to confuse the two steves, i will from now on refer to steve deluca as "stevie" and steve kille as "uncle steve". this pic was taken right after stevie spilled beer on uncle steve's board:

anyway, we are super stoked to have tracked drums/bass/geetar for six songs today, which uncle steve said were "insanely heavy". the house was radical, with owls everywhere, a unicorn rug on the wall, beautiful wooden walls, a willow tree and a magical garden...just to name a few amazing things. it was raining a lot and the wind chimes were a'blowin. we stuffed ourselves all day...being inside the house really compelled me to want to bake brownies, chocolate chip cookies, rice krispie treats... it just had that sweet vibe. grandmas are so awesome. they leave little notes like these:

i am too tired to type anything else at this point, but i am so excited that sooner than later we will finally be able to share these killer jams with other ears and hearts and souls and minds. will report more soon. video coming soon too.

child of nature

breakfast with the beatles is such a sunday morning treat. it always leaves me inspired. we all listen to it if we're awake or around. just heard "child of nature" which lennon recorded in his living room, then the song morphed into "jealous guy". always all sorts of rare goodies and juice on this show.

yesterday i took my car into the shop and picked up my new ride at the rental place. if you see someone driving a ridiculous GIGANTIC boat, and trying for hours to park the damn thing austin powers style... that would be me. there was only one car left, so i am now stuck with driving a damn aircraft. also, if you see someone trying to figure out the prehistoric stereo, or how to turn on the heater (there are 500 buttons), or looking for the non-existent parking brake, that would be me too. fun times. i miss my spaceship.

i feel like baking a german chocolate cake today.

so many things to do and so little time.

i recently discovered this sequence of the pink elephants from Dumbo with Sun Ra and his Arkestra's version of the song. Pretty wiiicked.

good news/bad news

We are flying back to Los Angeles today. It is extremely early and we have just found our flight has been cancelled due to "weather."
I'm wrecked and it is so cold I am wearing 4 sweatshirts and trying to sleep on the airport floor.
Anyways, the good news is...I was just reading news on the Internet and Queen latifa finally came out of the closet. She was banging her personal trainer.
The bad news is I clogged my friends toilet while out of town. We had to call a plumber and she spent $85 on my fucking baby wipe that was caught in the drain. Here's a pic.

Unicorns

Cheryl is out of town for a week.  We are having withdrawals.  When she gets back we will be in the studio for a while....sweet.

Sean, Cheryl and I just found out some of our super old jams (written and recorded waay back when Suzie P played the drums) are on some tv shows, so I just sat through a whole episode of Bam's Unholy Union to check it out.  What?  Dude picked up his girl on a carriage with a purple unicorn, which kind of stoked me out for two seconds...the pseudo unicorn, that is.  Oh, that reminds me of the Last Unicorn.  I had seen that Steve gave it five stars on Netflix, and was completely intrigued, so I then received it from Santa Claus, along with a pocket knife named "Hermie".  After Cheryl and I watched the film, we agreed Stevie must have been pretty zonked on the ganja, which goes without saying, but I find his selective ratings to be quite amazing.

Hello.

Gone and done it.  Joined forces and fetched up a blogaroo, for all the cats in Tsk Tsk to do whatever they want with.  Don't really even know how this thing works.  So I guess I'll just type some things.  I hope the others do too.

I just attempted to upload some extremely old songs to our myspace, and accidentally uploaded some old French lessons instead.  Twice.  I suppose having the old songs up just ain't meant to be.  Anywhoo, hearing the French recordings triggered a memory of sxsw road trip last year.  We were on the road for 30-something hours straight, and we would sometimes listen to and recite french tapes (on the ipod) created by my old magnifique professor.  Katia caught us on film enunciating french words while dancing in the van and throwing back slurpees or whatever.  And then I got all nostalgic for good, silly times on the road.  I love watching footage of bands (I love) on tour and the crazy antics that generally come along with it.  Lately I have been living vicariously through my roommate who has quite amazing footage of his band on tour.  Oh, and their new record is totally going to blow minds and melt faces.  The first time i heard a mix, i felt both blown away and slightly impotent.  It rips.  Anyway, back to tales of the road.  I miss that breath of life and need to be on it as soon as possible.

I did get some lovely breaths in last night when we played a killer show at our friend's warehouse with Tweak Bird, Ancestors and Balloon.  It was radical.  We played a gig with Tweak Bird before, back in November, and I was so floored by their band that I then wrote this lil' review of 'em at Buddyhead.  Anyway, they owned it last night.  We back 'em hard.  The place was packed, and it was so rad to watch so many people lose their shit and freak out over them.  It gave me a lil' feeling.  Good-things-are-happening.  I can't say it enough...go see them if you haven't already... there are some things words aren't good for.

Anyway, after being blown away by musical epic-ness and too much coca-cola, it was time to do the fun loading / unloading thing.  It was around three a.m. when we headed over to the practice space, where a dude was hanging out in his gargantuan pickup truck out front.  I didn't really think anything of it at the time.  So we unloaded some shit and were all ready to take the monitors and mixing board upstairs, when Cheryl said, "That dude is all methed out and being sketchy... he just asked us for money.... we should hurry up..."  I believe I was replying mid-sentence and had my back turned, when a stunned Sean quietly said, "He just hit your car."  Yay!!!!  That's what the picture up top is.  My car right after the tripper slammed into it.  I don't really know how to use this blog thing yet, so I don't know how to put that photo down here.  I don't really want to talk about the lil' incident anymore, so that is that.

Hopefully we will have new music up, some day.
